“I don’t know where I am going, but I am on my way.”  Voltaire

ioannes’ third collection, Voltaire, nods to the relocation of the brand’s studio from east London to Paris’ 11th arrondissement on Boulevard Voltaire, where the new body of work has been developed and documented. Adopting an encyclopaedic approach, designer Johannes Boehl Cronau takes stock of his archive, bringing together an eclectic mix of garments, each an archetypical interpretation of the brand’s codes, while proposing a wardrobe that reflects a new, harder yet poetic elegance.

Forming the first layers are the fitted curvilinear slip dresses in dusty pink and royal blue jersey, alongside steel grey tops and t-shirt dresses, each cut and constructed from a single rectangular piece of cloth. Riffing on underground club styling, improvised tops formed from spliced tights are reinterpreted in a sumptuous ecru cashmere rib knit, while a cropped Guernsey jumper and tunnel top feature hand embroidered details reminiscent of the geometric motifs of Berber carpets.
